Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We’ve had two 2-hour late days so far and today school is closed.  I am wondering if we will go back before winter break starts next week.  The kids love the snow- we are in the foothills, so typically we get a few extra inches more than everyone down in the valley.  Girl scouts was canceled, the show we were going to was canceled, but on the plus side I can stay in my jammies all day if I want and have fun with the kids, and maybe even scrapbook 🙂

Classroom Helper Mom

My daughter has barely started kindergarten and I want to be involved! With two little ones at home, it is going to be difficult to schedule time to be in her classroom, but I want to one way or another. I signed up to be her classroom Art Docent and went to training this evening. I can tell I am going to like this! I am surrounded by art tubs full of paints, prints of famous artwork, and everything ART! It is de-ja-vu as if I am back in college. I actually do have an art degree- funny thing is my husband didn’t know it. I am qualified (cough-cough) to teach special education, K-12 and Art K-12. I got to take all kinds of fun art classes at Western- art theory, printmaking, drawing, pottery, art history, and the list goes on. What a fun reminder- there is Kandinsky, Alexander Calder, Faith Ringgold. I am going to like this volunteer position! We go into the classroom once a month or so and teach a lesson about the artist and then MAKE ART- how cool is that! We will be creating clay sculpture, doing charcoal drawings, watercolors like Georgia O’Keefe, and many more. I am in my element!Faith Ringgold
